“Alderley’s first hole is a strong par 4 of over 400 yards, which gives the golfer a number of options, A blind tee shot is played over the brow of a hill and for the shorter hitters leaves a downhill lie and a dilemma of whether to take on the carry over the stream which meanders across the hole between 10 and 20 yards in front of the green or whether to lay up short. For the longer hitters a short iron remains into a green which is protected at the front by the stream and to the back right by the “Black Brook”. A four is always a good score here.”
